  • Can I bring my dog?
Unfortunately, the only dogs allowed at the NatureBridge facility are SAR or LE K9’s. No pets are allowed.
  • Are there camping options for the pre-event courses?
We are not providing (or facilitating) a camping option for pre-event courses; those attending pre-event courses would need to book a campground themselves if they want to stay at a campsite. We do have a block of rooms at the nearby Embassy Suites that can be reserved by following this link. NOTE: These rooms are only for pre-event courses, not during the event itself.
  • Can I bring and use my own personal ebike?
Absolutely, so long as you adhere to park rules as relates to ebikes. In fact, one of the "classes" we are offering is a mountain bike tour of the Headlands and ebikes are welcomed for this event.
  • Will there be Wifi/cell coverage?
Unfortunately, depending on your carrier, Rodeo Beach can be a bit of a dead zone for cell reception. There will be limited wifi capability at the NatureBridge location. This is the perfect locale to test your new team Starlink!
  • What will the weather be like?
This is the Marin Headlands so prepare for anything! Weather can really range the gamut from the upper 40’s to the high 60’s so be sure to bring layers. As is typical in Northern California, our days start cooler and warm up as the day progresses.
  • Is there potable water available?
Yes. Potable water will be available to all participants.
  • Are there nearby food options if I want a change of pace for a meal or two?
It depends on your definition of “nearby”! Sausalito is a few short miles away and offers a variety of interesting and novel restaurants.
  • Will be there other lodging options aside from NatureBridge?
There will be limited camping options and there are a number of hotels in the area
  • How can I get there?
Rodeo Beach is accessible via car or bike. If you are coming from SFO, the Marin Airporter is a good option to get to the county (Spencer Ave will be your closest stop). Unfortunately the shuttle service to Rodeo is out of service until further notice, so you will have to take an Uber or Lyft from Spencer Ave to Naturebridge.
  • Can I use my personal camper during the conference?
Unfortunately, no. NatureBridge has limited parking and unfortunately, doesn't allow personal camping in vehicles on-site. That said, if you can find other areas of Marin that do allow car camping, that might be an option but it would necessitate a measure of back and forth driving on your part.
  • Who specifically will be leading classes?
Classes will be led by recognized experts in their respective fields. A full list of classes and subject leaders can be found in the Classes and Instructors sections.
  • I can’t make the entire conference but would like to participate for a day or two. Is that possible?
Absolutely. We anticipate that many participants only be available for parts of the conference. Pricing will be considered accordingly.
  • What specific classes are being offered?
While the final agenda of classes, with corresponding times, is still being finalized, suffice to say there will be classes offered on a variety of important Search and Rescue-related topics, including but not limited to: technical rope rescue; medical; K9; search management; animal rescue and more. Each class will be led by a leading subject matter expert.
  • Do you need assistance with volunteers? If so, how can I help?
We are fortunate in that as of the moment, the Marin County Search and Rescue team has volunteer duties covered. Should this change, we will be sure to let you know!
