The California Highway Patrol responds to a large number of initial search efforts across the state with their Fixed Wing aircraft and Helicopters. CHP Helicopters are hoist capable for rescues and are willing to assist with transporting searcher to and from their search assignments. When working with CHP on a hoist rescue, packaging the patient in a Bauman Bag is the new best practice and is typically now policy. Students will be oriented to the airframe and capabilities and then get trained on Bauman Bag packaging of patients. CHP will then demonstrate and actual Bauman Bag hoist rescue with the Students assisting as the ground team.
