About the Course

This class provides an overview of techniques and considerations for Rope/Helicopter Rescue in the Yosemite Big Wall Environment. Considerations include: air asset limitations and specifications; logistics and complexity of transferring a rescue line to the site; existing protection and anchors for additional rescuers and patient packaging, and the physics involved in safely delivering and removing the full rescue package. Includes actual case studies and improvised equipment that is now standard for certain rescues. The course is taught by NPS Yosemite Ranger Jesse McGahey.
